Malta - Coming Home

Nairobi to Malta was 28 long hours but did include a relaxing Turkish shave in Istanbul’s airport … and a McDonald’s Big Mac, fries and coke for $48😳. How smart was that as we were on our way to an airport lounge where buffets and bars were abundant and free. But we just couldn’t help ourself, it’d been months since we had a McDonald’s and the aroma of fries pulled us over.

While preparing Bistari for launch we stayed at Marriott St Julian’s, a pleasant over the hill 20 minute walk to Manoel Island Yacht Yard.
It wasn’t all work. We enjoyed Easter Sunday at St Paul’s Cathedral and visiting our favorite sites and restaurants in Valletta.
After a week of passage prep at Gardens Yacht Marina our sails were delivered from the loft where they were inspected and repaired. Our final task, sail installation was at hand when Murphy’s Law struck - the fewer days left, the higher the winds blew. Oh well. Ready, set, farewell to Malta!
